The workshop on Plasmonic Sensors was organized by IEEE RUET IAS Student Branch Chapter on the 6th of November in association with IEEE RUET Student Branch. The event was co-hosted by IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh and sponsored by IEEE Young Professionals.
The workshop started just at 4.00 pm with around 80 participants. It began with the warm welcome speech of Dr. Md. Samiul Habib sir, Associate Professor, dept. of EEE, RUET. After that, a remarkable guideline was provided through a speech by Dr. Md. Abdul Goffar Khan sir, Professor, dept. of EEE, RUET, who was our special guest. Then Dr. Md. Masud Rana sir, Professor, dept. of EEE, RUET shared his thoughts and enlightened everyone as our chief guest.
On the conclusion of this introductory session by our respected teachers our main speaker Alok Kumar Paul sir, Assistant Professor, dept. of EEE, RUET started conducting his first session on Plasmonic Sensors around 4.30 pm. Following that a small break of 15 minutes was given for prayers and refreshments.
After the prayer break, the second session of the workshop began. Throughout the whole session, participants worked practically along with our speaker Alok Kumar Paul sir. Speaker concluded the workshop by asking for queries from everyone. Before closing the program a small token of appreciation was presented to our speaker Alok Kumar Paul sir by Dr. Md. Samiul Habib sir. Another small token of appreciation was presented to our counselor by Milton Kumar Kundu sir, Lecturer, dept. of ECE, RUET.
An online CV writing competition entitled 'CV writing competition' was organized by IEEE RUET Student Branch last month. Many students had submitted their CV's. These CV's were judged based on some criteria. Among them, one of the participants was chosen as the winner of the competition.
The winner is Nazmul Haque, Dept. of EEE, RUET, and Roll: 1501119. Asad-Uz-Zaman, Manager, Core Network Department, Novotel Limited Bangladesh was the judge of this competition.
To maintain the legacy like the previous years, IEEE RUET Student Branch has celebrated IEEE Day 2019 with great emphasis on 1 October 2019 in association with IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh at RUET premises.
As a part of the celebration, a friendly football match was arranged to have fun and bringing the friendliness between the branch members on 27 September 2019. IEEE Day T-shirts were distributed to all the participants of this program. The main segment of the celebration of IEEE Day 2019 was started with a rally wearing the T-shirts. A technical talk was conducted by Mr. Milton Kumar Kundu, Advisor, IEEE RUET IAS Student Branch Chapter, and Lecturer, Department of ECE, RUET. Mr. Md Abdul Al Azmain, Vice-Chair (Technical), IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh gave his valuable speech and shared his IEEE experiences. Moreover, Mr. Dr. S M Abdur Razzak, Advisor, IEEE RUET Student Branch, and Professor, Department of EEE, RUET shared some IEEE benefits and opportunities to the student branch members. We were lucky enough to have Mr. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan, Former Counselor, IEEE RUET Student Branch, and Professor, Department of EEE, RUET among us. He discussed the event organizing facts to give a clear view to be motivated in arranging such events more often.
A cake-cutting ceremony also took place in the presence of our guests, teachers, and participants. To involve all the members, an interactive session was arranged including games and quiz contests. The session was ended with a prize-giving ceremony. We thanked all the participants, volunteers, IEEE Day ambassadors, honorable teachers, and especially IEEE Young Professional Bangladesh for their cooperation.
The Annual General Meeting of the IEEE RUET Student Branch held on 19th September 2019. It was an amazing get together of some vibrant and enthusiastic souls. The program started with the recitation from the holy Quran. The evening became more lively by the presence of our respected teachers Prof. Dr. Faruk Hossain, Professor, dept. of EEE, Sajol Kumar Das, Head, dept. of MTE, Tasnim Binte Sawkat, Asst. Prof., dept.of ECE, Milton Kumar Kundu, Lecturer, dept. of ECE. We got guidelines for the future activity of our branch from their valuable speech. Then came the phase when our former executive committee announced the new one. It was the moment when legacy was passed on and responsibilities were handed over from 14 series to the new executive committee.
On the 16th September 2019, IEEE RUET Student Branch celebrated its 10th birthday. On that day, Our dearest Milton Kundu sir, Lecturer, Dept. of ECE, RUET was present. He provided a motivational speech on our recent activities. After that, The cake cutting session was held.
To elevate the procedure of self-exploration, a free seminar on “Focus on Finding Strength in Yourself” has been successfully organized by IEEE RUET Student Branch on 6th September 2019. It was only for IEEE RUET Student Branch members. The seminar was conducted by Md. Abdul Al Azmain. Who is the Vice-Chair (Technical), IEEE Young Professionals Bangladesh Section, as well as the former secretary, IEEE RUET Student Branch. He started the seminar by welcoming all the people. Then he assigned a small group task as a game and from every group, one member had to present their ideas about group discussion. After the fun section a segment through slide was conducted, where the idea of strengths and lackings among us was presented. Alongside some ways to be happy and successful were shown. In the wrap-up section of the seminar, some achievements of the IEEE RUET Student Branch were presented proudly and discussions about further journeys. The seminar, however, lit up more because of the presence of Milton Kumar Kundu (Lecturer, Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering, RUET).
Back on September 01, 2003 ‘BIT Rajshahi’ was transformed into Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), one of the most glorious public engineering universities in Bangladesh. Since then the day of 1st September of every year being celebrated as the ‘University day’ with color and festive among the teachers, students and staff of the university. This year also the day was celebrated as ‘University day’ on 1st September 2019 all day long with different attractive segments.
As a part of the celebration, an ‘Idea contest by Poster Presentation’ segment was held on that day 2019’ organized by the Office of Research & Extension jointly with the office of Student Welfare, volunteered by IEEE RUET Student Branch. Students of all universities in Bangladesh recognized by UGC participated in the segment with their innovative idea presented on a poster.
IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group in Association with IEEE RUET Student Branch organized a short course on ''Power Electronics Converters'' at EEE Seminar Room, RUET with around 50 participants. It was a 7 days short course starting from July 11, 2019, which eventually ended on August 30, 2019.
At the opening ceremony, our honorable speaker Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan sir, Professor, Dept. of EEE, RUET and former Vice-Chair, IEEE BDS EXCOM (2015-2017) delivered his introductory speech on power electronics and discussed gating circuit. Our honorable guests, Advisor of IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity group Prof. Dr. S.M. Abdur Razzak sir, Professor, Dept of EEE, RUET, and Counselor of IEEE RUET Student branch Dr. Samiul Habib sir, Assistant professor, Dept of EEE, RUET were also present there and delivered their kind remarks. The short course on ''Power Electronics Converters'' reached its final day on August 30, 2019. Our honorable speaker Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan Sir delivered his last lecture on the course and he motivated the participants that there is always room to develop and everyone should work hard for that. He also mentioned that this type of course or seminars should be held at other university premises too & IEEE RUET Student Branch will always be there to help them.
The program ended by handing over a small token of appreciation and a small gift to the honorable speaker by Shahjalal Tasin, Vice Chair, IEEE RUET Student Branch to show our gratitude to our respected sir. Afterward, Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan Sir handed over the prize of intra university online writing contest winner. The contest was organized by the IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group in association with IEEE RUET Student Branch as a part of the International Women's Day 2019 celebration.
IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter (IEEE CS BDC) in association with IEEE RUET Student Branch and IEEE Computer Society RUET Student Branch Chapter successfully organized their flagship technical and social event – “IEEE Computer Society BDC Meet & Greet 2019: Rajshahi”. The event included competitions to encourage the students to come forward with innovative ideas and prove themselves. At the same time, recognized professionals in the Computer Science and Engineering sector attended as a speaker for technical seminars which was arranged during the program.
A seminar on ‘Career Prospects & Opportunities of Artificial Intelligence in Japan’ has successfully been organized by the IEEE RUET Student Branch on 27th July 2019 at RUET. The seminar started with a welcome speech from Dr. Md. Samiul Habib Sir, Counsellor of IEEE RUET Student Branch. He welcomed all the participants and faculty members presented in the room. Following that, Prof. Dr. Ajay Krishno Sarkar sir, Head of Dept. of EEE, RUET gave his speech on the importance of AI, the future aspects and the importance of this kind of seminar for the students. After this session, Engr. Anisul Haque, Vice President of Hiperdyne Corporation, Japan shared different information about their company and prospectus. He also talked about the opportunities and requirements for the students to make their career on AI in Japan. He also gave answers to different questions from the participants. After that, Prof. Dr. Md. Faruk Hossain sir, Professor, Dept. of EEE, RUET and Membership Development Coordinator, IEEE Bangladesh Section gave a short speech and thanked the organizers for arranging such kinds of events. At last, Chair of the branch, Md. Injamam Ul Haque thanked all the participants for attending the seminar and called off the seminar.
This workshop was organized by the Department of EEE, RUET in association with the IEEE RUET Student Branch. Workshop on Antennas and Propagation (WAP) was held on Thursday to Friday, 27-28 June 2019. WAP initiated to provide the exchange of information on the progress and recent advancement in the research and development of innovative antenna technology and radio wave propagation.
This workshop covered a wide range of topics related to antenna technology, wave propagation, and electromagnetic theory. Prospective authors were invited to submit original contributions to their latest research findings and technology applications.
IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the world’s largest technical professional organization has created a platform for women in engineering so that they can contribute to developing a better world by technology. Like the entire world, IEEE will also celebrate The International Women’s Day on 8 March,2019 Worldwide. As a part of the celebration of this special day, IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group in association with IEEE RUET Student Branch bought up an intra university online writing contest entitled "Women in Tech". Two deserving writings were chosen among the submissions and winners were encouraged with attractive prizes.
IEEE RUET Student Branch successfully organized a seminar on "Insights of A Dissertation Research Project/Thesis" on April 24, 2019, at RUET Auditorium.
Our honorable Prof. Dr. Md. Shamim Anower Sir, Head, Dept. of ECE, RUET initiated the event by expressing his gratitude towards the honorable speaker for sparing his valuable time to take this seminar. The speaker Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak Sir discussed thoroughly how to conduct and defend a thesis. After that student were asked to generate a topic for themselves, to plan and execute a project investigating that topic by forming groups consisting of three members. The winner group was encouraged by the prize. The seminar started at 11 am and ended at 1 pm.
Following this seminar, Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak Sir took another seminar on "Outcome Based Education" starting at 3:30 pm. In this session, he discussed the importance of designing a proper curriculum for getting the best outcome from the students. Finally, by the end of the seminar, Ms. Tasnim Binte Shawkat madam, Lecturer, Dept. of ECE presented the speaker crest as a token of appreciation. With a photo session, the program came to an end at around 6:30 pm.
To celebrate Women’s day IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group organized an intra-university online writing contest entitled 'Women in Tech'. Around 20 participants attended the writing contests. The winners of the intra-university online writing contest were Rafeya Binte Hamidur (1st), Quazi Mahfuza Tasnim Mohona (2nd).
IEEE RUET IAS Student Branch Chapter organized a short training course on "HVDC Power Transmission" in association with IEEE RUET Student Branch at ECE Building, RUET with around 60 participants. It was a 7-day course starting from January 31, 2019, which eventually ended in March 08, 2019.
Our honorable speaker Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan sir, Professor, Dept. of EEE, RUET, Former Counselor, IEEE RUET SB discussed and demonstrated the HVDC system in details and emphasized on it's an effective application in our transmission system. After the completion of the last session Md. Injamam Ul Haque, Chair, IEEE RUET SB presented the speaker with a small token of appreciation. Then Md. Fazley Rabbi, Chair, IEEE RUET IAS Student Branch Chapter presented sir a small gift as an expression of gratitude and appreciation towards him for sparing some of his valuable time to undertake this training course. The program finally came to an end with a photo session segment.

IEEE RUET Student Branch has successfully organized a workshop on "Fast Charging of Solar Based Electric Vehicles" on February 28, 2019, with around 56 participants. The workshop started at 10:00 am and was conducted by Abdul Fattah, Senior Officer, Quality Assurance, Battery Division (R&D), Saif Powertec Ltd and Md. Abul Kashem, Quality Assurance Manager, Battery Division (R&D), Saif Powertec Ltd. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan sir, Professor, Dept. of EEE, RUET was also present in the workshop. The speakers shared their knowledge about battery technology very specifically and elaborately. They also mentioned that Battery Technology is leading the revolution in the fast development of electric vehicles, another modern-day top pick. Power Storage Scenario and future of secondary storage in Bangladesh also came up significantly in their discussion. Our honorable Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan sir rendered a short speech in between the workshop. He encouraged the students to become more interactive with the speaker. Finally, Md. Injamam Ul Haque, Chair, IEEE RUET Student Branch presented the speakers with crests as a small token of appreciation. The workshop came to an end at 4:00 pm with the distribution of certificates among the participants.
'Fresher’s Reception Program' for the newly joined members has been arranged by IEEE RUET Student Branch on 14 February 2019 at ECE Building, RUET.
The Chief guests of this program were our honorable teachers, Prof. Dr. S.M. Abdur Razzak, Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Advisor, IEEE RUET Student Branch, Professor, Dept. of EEE, RUET and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan, Professor, Professor, Dept. of EEE, RUET, Former Counsellor, IEEE RUET Student Branch. The program had its beginning with their valuable speech. After that the present chair of our branch Md. Injamam Ul Haque presented some words for the newcomers about IEEE and its benefits. The chair of IEEE RUET IAS Student Branch Chapter Md. Fazley Rabbi and the chair of IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group Nishat Subha delivered their speech as well. There were also some arrangements of kits for the fresher’s. Then a quiz competition was held. The first four ones were presented with gifts. After that, they were provided with some snacks. Finally, a short introduction of the executive committee members with the newcomers took place and the program had its end. It was a great day with the accomplishment of a formal meet up with new members.
