That revolution will be led, to a great extent, by renewable energy sources, especially solar energy and energy storage devices or more precisely, batteries. Battery Technology is also leading the revolution in the fast development of electric vehicles, another modern-day top pick. Electric Vehicles (EV) are beyond doubt, the transports of the future. Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), on the other hand, are the special type of vehicles that pairs both mechanical and electrical technology. HEV and EV technology is considered as the most promising solution to make the world greener. To be a part of this technological revolution, IEEE RUET Student Branch is going to organize a workshop on “Fast Charging of Solar Based Hybrid Electric Vehicles”.

IEEE RUET IAS Student Branch Chapter is going to organize a short training course on “HVDC Power Transmission” in association with IEEE RUET Student Branch. It will be a 7 day course starting from January 31, 2018.A high-voltage, direct current (HVDC) electric power transmission system uses direct current for the bulk transmission of electrical power, in contrast with the more common alternating current (AC) systems. For long-distance transmission, HVDC systems may be less expensive and suffer lower electrical losses. This power transmission system is becoming more and more important in an energy landscape that is characterized by increasing digitalization, decarbonization, and distributed generation. They offer the most efficient means of transmitting large amount of power over long distances, help connecting green power to the grid, and stabilize three-phase-grids. HVDC systems are ideally suited to support and improve the sustainability, efficiency, and reliability of power supply systems. They supplement the existing AC infrastructure through highly efficient long-distance power transmission grid access for onshore and offshore renewables transnational grid connections provision of fully controlled power supply in either direction the connection of asynchronous grids and grids with different frequencies performance improvements and firewalling of AC grids against cascading blackouts.Speakers Profile:
