From Sand to VLSI Chip: Hands on using open source EDA

27-28 October 2022

View facebook event

In modern technology when the world is racing to move towards efficiency, affordability, and sustainability, ‘Very Large-Scale Integration’ shortly known as ‘VLSI’ is ruling the semiconductor industry. When MOS integrated circuit chips became extensively used in the 1970s, they opened the door for the development of sophisticated semiconductor and telecommunication technologies. As a result, VLSI was introduced. Today, there’s no such sector where VLSI circuits hadn’t roll over. Taking the importance of knowing about VLSI into account in an electrical engineer’s life, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, RUET in association with IEEE RUET Student Branch organized a two-days-long workshop on ‘From Sand to VLSI Chip: Hands on using open source EDA’ on 27th & 28th October 2022. The motive was to provide basic information about VLSI, a proper guide to create the pathway of study on the related matters, and satisfy the obscure queries. In this two-days-long workshop, our esteemed speaker Nazmul Ahasan shared his valuable insights and expertise in VLSI.

View facebook event

IEEE RUET Student Branch started the celebration of IEEE Day 2022 on 14th October, 2022 with a heartwarming experience by paying a visit to "Swapno Feri", a volunteer organization working to educate underprivileged children. In the afternoon, when the members from IEEE RUET Student Branch reached there, the children cheered and met with great joy. About 30 students joined the celebration. Then a friendly drawing competition took place between the children. After the competition, there was a giveaway of little gifts and chocolates. Finally, with the cutting of the cake the celebration ended. The joyous smiles on the innocent faces brought happiness among the members of the branch as well. It has been like a moment to cherish forever.

On 15th October, 2022 IEEE RUET Student Branch started the program at 1:30 PM with a rally on the RUET campus following the IEEE members. Then a photo session was done. Finally, as a closure, the members celebrated the cake cutting ceremony. The program ended at 2:30 PM.

The two day long program was not only eventful but also led us one step forward to this year's motto 'Leveraging Technology for Humanity'. By celebrating IEEE Day 2022, our beloved branch is focused to be devoted, passionate and excited towards the following many more years with the IEEE family.

A power station is a facility that generates electricity. The use of transformers has enabled power to be created in isolation and distributed over greater distances, allowing society to obtain electricity from a single major power station rather than several. And Peaking power plants, commonly known as peaker plants or merely "peakers," are power plants that typically operate only when there is peak demand for electricity

AI For Future Generation Robotics

24 MARCH, 2022

Artificial Intelligence has become one of the most prevalent topics in recent years. The applications of AI we see today is a tip of the iceberg. The AI revolution has just begun. It is becoming an integral part of all modern electronic devices. Application in automation areas like automotive, security and surveillance, augmented reality, smart home, retail automation and healthcare are few of them. But, Artificial Intelligence wouldn’t be that popular if it hadn’t found so many applications across so many sectors, mostly in the software sector. However, we are betting on hardware, since AI is becoming an integral part of almost all modern automated devices. And it is impossible to discuss the future of automation without talking about robots. New generation Robotics will play a major role in this automated world. The future generation robotics would get a relutionary change due to advancement of Artificial Intelligence and meachine learning in recent times.

To broaden one's understanding of artificial intelligence and to be aware of the challenges and possibilities that artificial intelligence will provide in the next generations, IEEE RUET RAS (Robotics & Automation Society) Student Branch Chapter was conducted a webinar titled "𝐀𝐈 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬" on 24th March 2022 at 7:30 PM.
Artificial Intelligence for Future Generation Robotics offers a vision for potential future robotics applications for AI technologies. Each chapter includes theory and mathematics to stimulate novel research directions based on the state-of-the-art in AI and smart robotics. Our honorable speaker Ankush Ghosh explored the perspectives presented by Artificial Intelligence for potential future robotics applications.
