Short course on POWER ELECTRONICS CONVERTERS
The short course on Power Electronics Convertersreached its final day on 30th august. The class started at the scheduled time and the honorable speaker Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan Sir delivered his last lecture of the course.
He motivated the participants that there is always room to develop and everyone should work hard for that. He also mentioned that this type of courses or seminars should be held at other university premises too & IEEE RUET Student
Branch will always be there to help them. The program ended by handing over a small token of appreciation and a small gift to honorable speaker by Shahjalal Tasin, Vice Chair, IEEE RUET Student Branchto show our gratitude to our
respected sir. Afterwards Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan Sir handed over the prize of intra university online writing contest winner. The contest was organized by IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group in association
with IEEE RUET Student Branch as a part of International Women's Day celebration. Thus the program came to an end. Earnest felicitation to the participants for making this program successful. Thank you all for your fortitude to

Celebration of International Women's Day 2019
IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) , the world’s largest technical professional organization has created a platform for women in engineering so that they can contribute in developing a better world by technology. IEEE celebrated The International Women's Day on 8 March ,2019 Worldwide.
As a part of the celebration of this special day, IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group in association with IEEE RUET Student Branch is brought up an intra university online writing contest entitled "Women in Tech ". Mohammad Harun Rashid Sir, Assistant
Professor, department of Humanities, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, was the judge of the intra-university online writing contest. The writing of the first position holder was published in "The Rueters ".
Celebration of PES Day 2019
On April 28, 2019, IEEE RUET Student Branch has successfully implemented the PES RES for Kids Project in Bangladesh through a coloring competition named "Coloring a Greenified Future " at Vertex School, Rajshahi.
The PES RES for kids is part of the PES NwB (Networking without Borders) project driven by PES volunteers across the world.
The second activity of PES Day celebration started at 4.30 p.m with an awareness session. In this session Nishat Subha, Chair, IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group and Ambassador, IEEE WIE & PES WIP discussed about PES
and PES Day overview, PES Day activities and PES Membership benefits. Then Fahad Hossain, Program Co-ordinator, IEEE RUET Student Branch and Ambassador, IEEE Student Branch discussed about PES YP and WIP and PES CSAC. After that
a quiz contest was organized on the basis of the presentation. Then prizes were given to the winners of the quiz contest. The celebration came to an end by cake cutting ceremony
Graphic Design Bootcamp & Directions for Freelancing
IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group organized a daylong workshop entitled “Graphic Design Bootcamp & Directions for Pursuing Freelancing” with around 60 Participants on February 15, 2018 at ETE seminar room, RUET.
The workshop was conducted by Shahida Afrin, Lead of Business Solution Team, Mogo Business Solution who obtained her BSC degree from RUET. She referred ‘Graphic Design’ as one of the top 25 jobs that young people want to have. Graphic design has variety
of scopes including logo, t-shirt design, photo manipulation, calligraphy, typography etc. She insisted that user interface is the most important thing in case of graphic design. The participants were taught the basic use of tools
of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. For having a career in freelancing, the speaker suggested to create a portfolio at behance.com and mentioned some other sites like Upwork, Toptal, Elance, Freelancer, craigslist etc. A
competitive session was conducted by forming groups among the participants which included finding real-life problems, selecting one of those, finding the solutions for the selected problem, visualizing the problem in a poster and
presenting it with a speech step by step. “Team Hexagonal” was the winner of this session. At last Zawata Afnan, the chair of IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity group presented a crest to our trainer as a small token of appreciation.
With a photo session segment, the program came to end.
Trending Technologies and Thesis Directives
IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group presented “Seminar on Dissertation Process of Thesis/Project and Tech Talk on Plasmonic Nanoparticles” in association with IEEE RUET Student Branch on 25th November, 2017 at RUET.
Around 220 participants including about 40 IEEE members and 180 non-IEEE members were present there. A heartiest thanks to all the participants for attending the program. Dr. Ajay Krishno Sarkar Sir, Professor and Head of Dept. of EEE, RUET blessed us
with his presence in our program. Tasnim Binte Shawkat Ma'am, Lecturer, Dept. of ECE, RUET and Kusum Tara Ma'am, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE, RUET were also present in our program as guests. The program
was segmented into three sessions. It started at 4.000 pm with the first session “Tech Talk on Utility of Plasmonic Nanoparticles” which was conducted by Dr. Mustafa Habib Chowdhury, Assistant Professor, Dept. of EEE, Independent
University, Bangladesh (IUB). He presented some of his works on nanoparticles performed in his laboratory and emphasized on increasing its efficiency. The duration of this session was one hour. The next session was “IEEE Membership
Session” which was conducted by our student members. In this session, our student coordinator Mim Naz Rahman delivered a presentation on the beneficiary factors of being an IEEE member. The last session entitled “Seminar on Dissertation
Process of Thesis/Project” was conducted by Dr. Abdur Razzak, Head, Dept. of EEE., Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). He delivered a very important speech on this crucial topic and shared his valuable instruction on conducting
a thesis successfully. A small competitive segment was also organized in this session and the winners were given prizes for further encouragement. At last our beloved Ajay Sir rendered a short speech and presented our two guest
speakers with crests as a small token of appreciation. With a photo session segment, the program came to end.
Inter University Online Writing Contest
IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group arranged an Inter University Online Writing Contest on 12th October, 2017.

IEEE Day 2017 which is the 8th edition so far is going to be celebrated on 12 October 2017 under the same theme “Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow” as ever. Worldwide celebration of this day demonstrates how all IEEE
members in local communities join together to carry on the practice of working for universal connectivity and humanity. As a part of the celebration of this special day, IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group in association
with IEEE RUET Student Branch brought up an online writing contest entitled "IEEE and Evolution of Communication ".
Workshop on LATEX and PCB Designing
A workshop titled “Workshop on LaTeX and PCB Designing” was organized by IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group on April 21st, 2017 and April 22nd,2017 at ECE Seminar room, ECE building, RUET.
It was a very effective and successful workshop with more than 80 participants. Thanks to all participants for attending the workshop. Special thanks to WIE, IEEE BDS for associating with us. At the inauguration of the event Professor Dr. S.M. Abdur Razzak,
Advisor, IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch AG was present. Mentioning how important these two topics were for the students he expressed his gratitude to WIE, Bangladesh Section for their assistance. On the first day, workshop on LaTeX
was conducted by Shoilie Chakma ( Lecturer, Department of EEE, BUET & Treasurer, WIE IEEE Bangladesh Section.) During the three hours workshop she introduced different features of LaTeX software. On the second day Irtiza Haque
(System Engineer, Service Operation, Grameenphone) took the workshop on PCB Designing. The participants were mainly first and second year students. They seemed quite contented with their acquired knowledge from the workshop. After
the workshop, IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch AG presented each instructors a crest as a token of appreciation. Then the participants were given participation certificates. With this the program came to an end.
Celebration of International Women's Day 2017
IEEE RUET WIE Student branch Affinity Group arranged a program titled, "Celebration of International Women 's Day" on March 8, 2017 at ECE Seminar room, ECE Building, RUET.
This event was organized to recognize the spirit of International Women’s Day and also to celebrate the day. This program had two segments. The first one is a presentation by IEEE RUET WIE Student branch Affinity Group. The other one was a public speaking

Workshop on Web Designing
IEEE RUET WIE Student Branch Affinity Group organized a workshop on Web Designing on 2nd November, 2016 at RUET ECE Building.
Web design means collecting ideas, that are arranged and implimented asthetically on an electronic web page and guided by certain principles for a specific purpose. It is a process of conceptualizing, planning, and building a collection of electronic
files that determine the layout, colours, text styles, structure, graphics, images, and use of interactive features that end users can access using internet with help of a web browser. It encompasses many different skills and disciplines
in the production and maintenance of websites. The different areas of web design include web graphic design; interface design; authoring, including standardised code and proprietary software; user experience design; and search

Groups of Bangladesh has started its journey on January 12th, 2016.
The participation of women in technology related sector is increasing day by day. This affinity group has been formed aiming at arranging programs, seminars to benefit the female students and providing proper opportunities
of networking at professional level. We hope that this seminar will bring more enthusiastic women technologists together and fulfill the purpose of WIE(Women in Engineering).
